The Psychological Aspect Of Stress: Negative Impact.

Perhaps most of humankind now take stress in a less serious way than before because the fact is that stress have been developing over the years, spreading all over the world and become such a common term that is recognised everywhere. It is due to the obvious negative impacts stress have brought to humankind, especially to the psychological extent.

It can never be denied that stress indicates a strain in human’s mind, regardless of the fact that it may also bring benefits, not only harms. The word stress itself carry a negative meaning about the constant pressure one have to put up with. To an extent, stress can be manageable, but most of the time people do not notice that they are suffering from stress until the condition went out of control.

The most visible negative effect of stress is the brain exhaustion, in other words, fatigue and the loss of concentration. Normally a person’s brain can work effectively 15-16 hours a day, during which the actual working hours take about 6-7 hours in general. However, if you are under stress, the amount of time you work decreases to only approximately 4 hours a day, one sixth of the whole day’s hours. This is due to the negative thinking that stress brought about, and losing concentration because of such thoughts is simply explainable. People who suffer from stress have the tendency to be sleep-deprived ones, and fatigue is believed to arrive earlier in a day than those who have normal state of mind.

Along with loss of concentration, sleeping disorders are common among stressed people. Eight out of ten people diagnosed with stress admit that they have troubles trying to sleep at night. Insomnia is the most common sleeping disorder, but there are also others which are equally serious such as oversleeping, sleep deprived, sleepwalking, or unusual activities while sleeping. These rooted from the factor that stress is directly related to the brain functions, and one of them is to sleep. If not solved immediately, these disorders may cause the stressed person very costly consequences.

Not only concentration and sleeping disorders are considered, but also the behaviours of stressed people are taken into account. Basic impacts of stress on the psychological system include anxiety, ill-tempered manner, extreme anger, fear, depression, aggressive attitude, indifferent thinking, forgetfulness, self-isolation and so forth. Of all these symptoms, depression and aggression are the two most typical features of an overly-stressed person. This side of impact from stress is the most serious one which can cause permanent damage to one’s consciousness. Therefore, this should be concerned in a more efficient way, otherwise the consequence will be out of control.

In conclusion, negative effects that stress brings on the psychological system of human beings is simply undeniable and cannot be ignored. It is only the question of how to fight with this disease and prevent the society from becoming an aggressive, or emotionless one.
